Thanks Mods, I'm glad this is being addressed. I have cable, so it's not the slow connection, but rather all the scrolling through posts that has become bothersome to me as well. Sometimes I jump on the board for only 5 minutes or so a few times a day, and it does get monotonous to scroll through so much.

And, like Melissa said, once we've seen the pictures, we don't need to see them all the time. I also think it would be great to change the pictures then too. I'll probably be taking down my Christmas pic of Diana and either leave it blank for awhile or not till something else catches my eye.

Personally, I don't care for the tickers at all, but that's just me. I don't need to know how long it is till someone in your family's birthday or your anniversary, personal things like that. I think it was cool when someone (I forget who exactly) had the ticker about how many more days till Jess' release, or if things are related to AG, I think that's fun. I don't want to sound mean or impersonal about it, but I think the poster is really the only one who cares about the days till....whatever.

When a signature is 15 lines long just to list all the dolls that you have, I think that's excessive and would appreciate just commas between the list of names in horizontal fashion.

I'm sorry. I'm the ticker-starter culprit I saw it on another board and thought it was too cute so I did the Jess countdown. I didn't mean for it to get out of hand. I totally understand everyone's concerns. I shortened my sig too. I kept the Disney ticker because this is our first ever vacation and dd's 1st plane ride. We are too excited!

I personally like the tickers, because I like seeing what is important to people, what they are looking forward to.

I did cut mine down to 1, and took the links out of my signature. Once I am done counting I will put the links back.

BTW, in case I forget tomorrow, Happy 1st Anniversary!

I'll also be updating when appropriate (holiday pics, outdated tickers).

I'm on a suberbly fast cable connection, but still find the length of some of these signatures to be quite bothersome. It's very annoying to open up a thread and then see that half the space is signatures. That's a bit ridiculous, IMO. I truly hate having to scroll sideways AND up and down to view threads, especially since I have a touchpad mouse.

I don't mind one or two tickers, but more than 2 is just downright ridiculous, IMO. And they shouldn't be done for just anything, save them for special things that are very important to you and for things that the rest of the board members would enjoy counting with you. (IMO)

Johanna's post about signature pic sizes is right on the money. 300x300 is just about perfect, no matter what your screen res is. It's not too big that it gets in the way and it's not too small that you can't see the details.

Thanks for all the input! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having trouble with the long signatures...so it's NOT old age We have dial-up (DSL not available here) and HB frequently loads so incredibly slow for me. Plus I have also missed posts by scrolling through long signatures. It makes it hard to follow a conversation when you skip right over parts.

I can't offer any suggestions about limiting photo sizes, I see there have already been some more knowledgeable members post that information. If we can limit ourselves to one or two graphics and keep our doll list on fewer lines, it would help a lot of us tremendously.

It is enjoyable to get a peek into someone's life through their signature, but maybe we could rotate that information rather than have it displayed all at the same time.

This is not just a hostboard problem, it's a problem for all web pages! I do have a suggestion though, let's not add the original message to our replies so we can find your post easily,

I would like to thank everyone for all the helpful suggestions about editing our signatures and also thank all of you that have shortened your signatures. I would especially like to thank everyone who gave advise on editing pictures since I (and probably some others here) are not that computer literate. If it wasn't for our AG dolls, I probably would have never learned to post a picture online, LOL.
